Alarm clocks saw us boys getting up at 4:30 to get onto the bus at 5:00 – some of the girls got up even earlier to allow sufficient time to prepare for the day ahead. The day was overcast and wet, so we definitely got the best of the weather.

We took the ferry from Caen to Portsmouth and the journey passed uneventfully, with everyone looking after JT who

was suffering from ‘mal de mere’.

The bus ride back to Ledbury was definitely quieter than the outward journey as we were all very tired and glad to be home after a wonderful trip away.

Last Stay at Chateau

After breakfast, we went to activities, Bread making again. Then we had lunch: Chicken & Chips (poulet & frites). We then went to the bus to take us on a very long walk on a cliff, until we finally got to the beach where Mrs.Knight bought us ice creams and Mr. Henderson found a crab. We had tea and went to playVolleyball & Aeroball

Challenge Day

After brerakfast, we went straight to the Kitchens and Seb gaves us a task of working out the bread recipe in French and had competitions to see who had the longest baugette and we made our own bread. Then we went over to Archery, to learn the basis and the entire sport itself. I hit the yellow once. Then we went to a French Language session and completed the shopping vocabulary.

Late awakening

It was about 5 minutes past the deadline for getting out of bed and having a shower, dressed etc etc etc. After I had finally had a shower and got dressed it was time to go to breakfast and then to first lesson which was in fact breadmaking.

Whilst we were breadmaking we had a few breaks and did a few games with our dough… We then had a game of detectives of the dough, which is basically a copy the leader sort of activity with the detective looking out for the boss who the others are copying. Once the boss has been caught, he/she then has to go and become the new detective.

We went to the cider press and learnt how cider is made and processed in an old fashioned way. After that we got to taste some lovely french cider. Luckily my best mate did not like his half a glass of cider so I managed to get his as well.

After that we went and had lunch at the usual place at our residential centre. It was very french sort of meal with potato salad and some lasagne.

Quite soon after that we went to our second and third activity which were archery and french. In archery we did a couple of competitions but the best one was the pop the balloon challenge but unfortunately no-body could pop one. GOOD FUN ANYWAY!!!

Soon after that we did some french in an outside classroom and practised our literiter and had a break. Our lunch is going to be a barbique with some salad and spices thrown in here and there…

I will blog again tommorow as usual (hopefully!).

Normandy June 2

As we arived at school on the 1st of june at 6.30pm we caught the coach from our school parking lot and left to catch our ferry from poole and prepared for our 5 hour crossing to chereourg and drove to normandy…

The next day (2nd of june), we woke up in our dorms and we instantly went to a french market and bought some things and then we went the beach for a picnic and did some paddling. After that we went on a tour of the battlements and bought some ice cream. After we went into the coach and drove back to our dorms to have a tour of the site. It is now 10.00 pm so to all a good night!!!

Normandy 2 June 2011

After a very filling breakfast, we got on the coach heading for Dinan, the market. On one perticular stall, there were real life knifes, daggers, swords and machettes.

On our travel we stopped for the beach in San Malo and had a walk through town, for another shopping expedition. When we got back the tour guides showed us around the grounds to pinpoint the activities, AND we saw two Peacocks on the roof of the Chateau and for the first time we saw them FLY.

We arrived at the Chateau last night after an uneventful trip and a smooth Channel crossing.
Looking forward to excursions today.

Normandy 2011 – overview

We shall be setting off at 7:00am on Wednesday 1st June, arrriving at Chateau de la Baudonnierearound 9pm.

Thursday shall see us exploring the markets of Dinan and visiting St Malo in the afternoon.

Friday and Saturday morning will be spent in the Chateau grounds, doing all sorts of activites. Saturday Afternon ses us exploring the medieval town of Mont St Michelle.

An incredibly early start on Sunday will see us back in John Masefield around 16:45.

The trip message on the school answer machine will be updated if the arrival time will be significantly different.

Cologne 2009

we arive here on friday, had fish and potato then went to a crimbo market yay!!!!! there were pretels and sweets and hand made things. on saturday we went shopping and climbed the cathederal tower with LOTS AND LOTS of steps *wheeze, pant*

we then went shopping again and went to the chocolate museum followed by ice skating we were great and did not fall over once

then this morning we left to phantasia land, but had to wait an hour for the gates to open bcuz of a slight miscalculation of times. it was bril

later on we went ice skating but everyone else stayed in.

Got to Dover at 4:30, so bit of a wait for ferry. Crossing OK, not rough and journey to Cologne uneventful. Some rain, but clear spells in between.
Off to town after supper to eat ice ceam.
